Curriculum Vitae

Oliver Hummel was appointed professor at the Faculty of Computer Science at Mannheim University of Applied Sciences in 2017. Since 2020, he has been leading the StartupLab in the university's center for entrepreneurship.
Prior to this, he was, among other things, Head of Development (CTO) for a “Big Data Knowledge Engine”, Substitute Professor for Software Engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), and Junior Professor for Software Engineering at the University of Mannheim. He also worked as a senior specialist/consultant for Perot Systems (now Dell Services) and had teaching assignments at the International University in Germany (Bruchsal) and the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences from 2004 to 2011.
Oliver received his PhD from the University of Mannheim on the topic of "Semantic Component Retrieval in Software Engineering" and has been gaining extensive know-how in handling and analysing large volumes of data since then. Hence, he has hands-on experience with contemporary technology stacks, e.g. for streaming and batch processing of Big Data.
